Education
Diploma in Journalism from Algonquin College (2010-2012)
Content Editor and Coordinator for BlogWorks (2025-present)
I manage a team of international writers to deliver SEO-rich blog articles to clients from all over the world. I create briefs and schedule posts for the writers, edit articles and deliver them to the client, and I also do some writing on the side.
Copy Editor for the Royal Conservatory of Music (2024-2025)
I worked alongside a team of pedagogical and musical experts to create and distribute Smart Start, the Royal Conservatory of Music’s signature, research-based early childhood music education program. I ensured lesson plans and activities were accurate, up-to-date and easy for teachers to understand, while using Microsoft Teams, Airtable and weekly video calls to stay connected with North American coworkers.
Quality Assurance Editor for P/S/L Group (2021-2024)
I collaborated with medical and production team members to produce and review materials for various healthcare professionals in a broad range of therapeutic areas. I evaluated websites, HTMLs, emails, print and promotional materials for inconsistencies, discrepancies and inaccuracies, guarantee functionality and ensure business standards and deadlines are met. I also had the opportunity to work on expedited client requests, train interns on QA processes, and create and edit internal process documents.
Content Editor for Metroland Media (2018-2021)
I used a custom operating system to edit and proofread stories and design pages for the Toronto Star. During my time with the company, I specialized in news, entertainment, business and sports content, working in constant communication with section editors and sending the final pages to the printer. I reviewed and proofread last-minute stories before deadline, crafting and checking display copy and thriving under pressure. I worked as a team leader on multiple occasions, managing fellow editors and acting as the liaison between our team and editorial management at the Star.
Editor for Pagemasters North America (2014-2018)
I designed newspaper pages and edited stories for the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star at Pagemasters North America, the Canadian Press commercial division that provides editorial production services. I proofread content from the Globe’s Report on Business and the Star’s world news pages, building and paginating pages as described in the laydown from editorial management, and specialized in running the Sports section for both publications. This included training other editors on how to manage the section and meeting tight print deadlines on a regular basis. I worked quickly to turn around print and web copy for major world events, such as Canadian and U.S. elections and the Olympics.
Paginator for TV Media (2012-2014)
I used Adobe InDesign (CS 1-6) and Quark to design television listings magazines and TV guides for publications all across North America. I also wrote stories, ranging from 800 to 1,200 words, about TV and entertainment news that were published alongside the schedules.
Production Manager for The Fulcrum (2013-2014)
Alongside the Editor-in-Chief, I managed editors and volunteers to produce the University of Ottawa’s English-language newspaper for the 2013-14 school year. During my tenure, I hosted three Adobe InDesign workshops, built an in-house photography studio and provided art for supplements and feature spreads. I used InDesign to design the weekly newspaper and helped the EIC with the final edits and fine fixes.
Reporter for The Eganville Leader (2012)
As part of my six-week college placement, I covered community news as a writer and photographer for events such as city council meetings, figure skating competitions and children’s activities at the library. I designed the newspaper and trained editorial staff on design using InDesign during production days.
Layout Editor for The Algonquin Times (2011)
I worked alongside editors and advertising students to prepare and slot the biweekly student newspaper during the second year of my college program. I helped students design pages in InDesign and signed off on their work at the end of the day. I picked the final pages and worked on final edits and fixes during the weekend.
Reporter for The Haliburton Echo (2011)
I worked as a reporter and photographer and used InDesign to design the Haliburton Echo, the Minden Times, Bancroft This Week, Barry’s Bay This Week and the Weekender. I covered many different events in the area, from local artists to high school sporting events. I helped proofread and edit the weekly papers alongside the rest of the staff.
